Next NLJFC meeting - May 2009

Next club meeting is Thursday the 7th May at the Prince of Wales, Derbyshire Lane. Kick off is at 8.30pm. All welcome!

SYCF Grant

The South Yorkshire Community Foundation in co-operation with Sheffield United FC has awarded Norton Lees Juniors a small grant of £700.00 as part of their Grassroots Grants Scheme for local community groups. We became aware of the grant due to the incessant chatter of the Stadium Announcer, Gary Sinclair, at Beautiful Downtown Bramall Lane at half time during the match against Derby County and we managed to get the paperwork done in record time and signed off by El Presidente – Dave Winters, on the closing date for submitting applications. The funding will allow us to purchase replacement equipment such as footballs, cones, slalom poles, coloured headbands or bibs and so on and also items of kit for the next seasons U8 team. PROMOTION TO 'A' DIVISION FOR UNDER 12's. RUNNERS UP SPOT FOR UNDER 14's

The Under 12's gained promotion to the top division after picking up 7 points in a week to enable the side to finish 8 points above 4th place Greenhill. The runners up spot sees the team collect their medals at Barnsley Metrodome on Tuesday 12th May. Well done to Chris and the boys.

The Under 14's finished in 2nd place in the 'A' division to go along with their cup success after a nailbiting 3-2 win at Sheffield Rangers. They collect their medals on Thursday 14th May.

Finally the Under 13's finished off their season in style with an 8-0 demolition of Brunsmeer. The team gained promotion a couple of weeks a ago. The photo shows Andy, Mal, Tan and the boys celebrating after Sunday's game.

ALTON TOWERS TRIP

There are around 20 places left for the trip to Alton Towers on Sunday 26th April. Cost for entrance and return coach travel is £26. Normal entrance fee is £36 so this is a bargain. If you are interested contact Dave on 0114 2581189 or see your team manager.

PROMOTION FOR UNDER 13's and 15's

CUP GLORY FOR UNDER 14'S

Extra time goals from Bradley Bowland and Mark Fereday (2) gave Norton Lees cup glory with a 3-1 victory over local rivals Greenhill JFC. For further details read the match report in the Under 14's section of the website.
